Note: In addition to being backed by Binance Labs, Cellula has officially announced that they have completed a $2 million Pre-Seed funding round with SevenX Ventures and OKX Ventures co-leading the investment early April. Other participants in the funding round include Mask Network and Foresight Ventures.

What is Cellula?

Cellula is a comprehensive fully onchain AI gaming ecosystem that ingeniously integrates game theory, offering both composability and sustainability. Its unique virtual Proof of Work (vPOW) asset allocation mechanism innovatively provides an incentive layer within the ecosystem.

The name of a project often reflects its core brand identity. The word “Cellula” is an italian word for Cell. Its recently upgraded logo, incorporating cell and puzzle elements, symbolizes the origins of life, subtly hinting at the gameplay mechanics.

Cellula is an autonomous world based on Conway’s Game of Life, where users can create a digital life form called BitLife using digital cells known as BitCells on a “Crafting Table.” Each BitLife is unique, and these digital life forms can continuously evolve on the blockchain.

Unlike many traditional games where characters do not upgrade automatically and require significant player time and effort, the digital lives in Cellula create value with simple game operations.

From the moment of cell synthesis, these cells continually grow, their vitality determined by the number of active cells. The “Crafting Table” can create all life forms, and the entire process of digital life evolution is traceable. 

Each BitLife is composed of between two to nine BitCells on the workbench. With a total of 511 possible BitCell forms and nearly infinite combinations in a nine-grid format, each combination follows a computational curve dictated by Conway’s Game of Life rules. However, How to maximize mining returns is based on the player’s strategic skills, with superior BitLife often yielding greater profits.

Drawing from Bitcoin mining rules, each BitLife has a unique computational curve, enabling rewards through mining. With programmable incentive mechanisms, the vision for BitLife is to autonomously perform tasks across multiple chains, evolving into a fully onchain AI agent.

Cellula introduces a charging method; after creating a BitLife, players must charge it (feed it), after which BitLife generates energy bubbles above the spaceship, available for players to collect at any time. The energy points collected will qualify for future Cellula Token airdrops.

Besides collecting energy points, Cellula also implements a social scoring reward system, with the token named Life. Users can earn Life by inviting friends to mine or completing daily tasks, which are updated in real-time for daily participation.

Players are essentially engaged in dual mining in Cellula (Energy Points and Social Points – Life), suggesting promising profit expectations for players in Cellula.

It is worth noting that a common critique in Web3 games is the Ponzi economy’s tendency towards decline and entering a “death spiral.” However, Cellula meticulously designed a VRGDA issuance mechanism. It employs a progressive Dutch auction system where forging fees rise if the demand for BitLife exceeds expectations. If the demand is insufficient, the fees decrease, and if it matches expectations, the fees remain constant. This method cleverly achieves a balance between supply and demand for in-game assets.

As an innovative fully onchain game, users can choose from different roles to participate: miner, market maker, mining machine (BitLife) distributor, NFT (BitCell) borrower or just a regular in-game player. Different roles engage in dynamic multilateral game theory, creating order out of chaos like the Bitcoin ecosystem, facilitating an infinite game across cycles.

April 16th Cellula Mainnet Launch: Airdropping 1.1 Million Tokens to Users
