Here’s a rundown of the most noteworthy industry events and project developments to look out for in the coming week.
Arweave version 2.6 will be activated at block height 1,132,210, at approximately 10:00 PM on March 6th (Beijing time). Arweave 2.6 will make Arweave mining more energy-efficient, incentivize miners to store more data, and create a more efficient storage market. Arweave Mining utilizes SPoRA (Sparse Random Access) succinct proofs, where miners prove in the competition that they can access random historical data blocks to drive more efficient incentives at greater scale and lower cost. The version introduces a cryptographic speed limit on the number of hashes miners can compute per second, ensuring that the primary competitive advantage for miners is storing more Arweave datasets.
a16z crypto’s twelve-week accelerator program, Crypto Startup School (CSS), will take place from March 6th to May 26th in Los Angeles, California. In addition to education and guidance, participants will receive $500,000 in seed funding to build their companies. The accelerator aims to help developers start new Web3 projects, and since its launch in February 2020, CSS has helped apps like Phantom and Goldfinch raise over $300 million in funding.
Modular blockchain network Celestia is launching an incentive testnet plan called the Blockspace competition, which is divided into five stages and lasts nine weeks, with the first stage starting on March 7th. The competition will select 1,000 participants, including validators, bridging nodes, full storage nodes, and light nodes. In each stage, participants will receive assigned tasks related to their role, competing for points by completing them. Additionally, new features of the testnet include IBC transmission, more efficient synchronization, and an API to improve interaction with Celestia data availability nodes.
The “Web3.0 Demo Day,” co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab and HashKey Group, and supported by Cyberport, will take place on April 14-15 as a sub-event of the Hong Kong Web3 Carnival at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
